Support caregivers. Support survivors. We are a charity organization that provides education, caregiver respite, and therapy grants for stroke and brain injury survivors in Middle Tennessee.
HI THERE. WE’RE BISCT
A stroke or brain injury changes your life overnight.
Many times families are left without support or funds to continue their path toward recovery. Insurance companies have high deductibles and often place caps on the therapy one can receive, limiting people to 20 visits or less per year. That’s a little over one month’s worth of visits, leaving survivors to pay out of pocket for continued care.
At BISCT, we connect survivors and their families directly to the resources they need to navigate this new normal.

BISCT sounds like Biscuit
What’s in a name?
Here in the south, “biscuit” means a little bit more than a warm flaky quickbread. Sitting down to a table and being passed a basket full of biscuits means that someone took the time to lovingly prepare something delicious from scratch just for you. To feed you. To sustain you. Biscuits mean family. Biscuits mean community.
It’s this meaning that lead us to name our organization after this southern delicacy. And just like biscuits, BISCT means you are not alone. When a brain injury or stroke suddenly changes your life, BISCT is here to help.
Education
There is support in navigating this new world after brain injury, whether that be one handed tips and tricks, support groups, or connecting with community.
Therapy Grants
BISCT provides funds for additional therapy and equipment to eligible stroke and brain injury survivors in middle TN. These grants support up to 12 weeks worth of Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapies, as well as mental health services at vetted therapy centers that align with the BISCT mission. Individuals may apply for a BISCT Grant even if they have insurance benefits, but must show financial need to qualify.
Caregiver Respite
Our caregiver respite programs are 2 day workshops held over weekends. Programs include structured group activities for survivors and separate ones for caregivers. Caregivers have the option to drop their loved one off or stay and participate in caregiver focused sessions.
